God rips himself open so Mother Earth can emerge from his womb. Imbued with the fluids expelled by her progenitor during his agony, she will in turn give birth to a deformed and convulsive creature, the Son of the Earth…

Married forever to the 16mm silver grain, Begotten‘s scenes, worthy of the most radical theatrical performances of the 60s, form an allegorical gesture whose apparent lucidity is just a decoy. The eye and the mind quickly lose themselves in a maze of possibilities with multiple interpretations, and the film reveals its prismatic nature with infinite reflections.
