Die Tödliche Doris was a project conceived by a group of art students in West Berlin, Wolfgang Mueller and Nicholaus Utermohlen, joined in 1982 by Käthe Kruse. A soap escaping the categorizing hands of the art market, they produced both spoken instruction records, industrial Muzak, 8 mm films, videos, sculptures, paintings, radio pieces, books and performances in the S.O. 36 club, Documenta, The Kitchen where they would record their first date and play it again at the next concert, recording over it again, and so on, until the sound of the audience replaced their own sound. Alan Licht said about them: an art/punk version of Alvin Lucier’s “I am sitting in a room”. At Circuit, the band’s costumes will be on display in an enhanced version by Käthe Kruse.
