Although shot in 35mm, « Night of Fear » was originally designed to be the pilot of a horrific TV series… that will never see the light of day. It must be said that this story of a young women kidnapped by a perverse and sadistic hillbilly, strongly irritated its sponsors, not to mention the censorship committee. Terry Bourke ended up distributing his film with his own money, renting small theaters and drive-ins. The first Australian horror film of the “70s New Wave”, Night of Fear is a model of efficiency that was surely a source of influence for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
