ERWAN KERAVEC – Urban Pipes

In 2007 Erwan Keravec had a utopian dream: to make the bagpipe a universal instrument, to imagine a music that would only be music, with no other function than being listened to. Since then, he has admitted to being incapable to reach that goal, as his native culture influences him even when he tries to slip away from it. With Urban Pipes, he chose to embrace and put forth what defines it: the projection of sound, the density, the noisemaker’s energy, a melody to imagine a music that is playing or that plays with the melody, an oscillating wind sound, at first furious but then soothing.
